I'm Going Through Changes

Guess what! Yesterday marked my first day as a full time entrepreneur! While I've been the CEO of WE Consulting for two years now, after three decades, I've closed the chapter of my life that involved me being a teacher and school administrator.

My Final Days at Blake

My time in schools spanned across three states and each experience—whether challenging or rewarding—has prepared me for this moment. This dream has been in the making for quite some time, and I am beyond excited for how I’ll have more time to serve others through my business and for what the future holds.

Things have gotten off to a very strong start! In early June, I was invited to be the featured guest speaker in the Tipton-Hammond Arts Speaker Series. Micaela Brown, a fellow DEI practitioner and relative of one of the Four Little Girls killed by the KKK in 1963, interviewed me. I’m so glad that I got to share my story with her and others in attendance. It was kismet to meet another woman who is connected to a pivotal moment in the fight for civil rights. Check out snippets from our conversation by clicking the link above.

Two days later, I had the pleasure of hosting the Ready, Set, Rest! Retreat. Everyone there witnessed God show up as we intentionally slowed down! The participants experienced release in the form of tears, singing, community building and basking in the day's absolutely perfect weather. It was also an honor to build partnerships with other women business owners like Ariana Lopez of Arlo Physical Therapy and Wellness. Ariana taught us how to soothe our Vagus Nerve and reverse the negative impacts of stress. The day went so well that I was invited to host the retreat again for a private group.

I have so much gratitude for the growing impact that I'm able to have. A local teacher’s union invited me to offer my 5 part series on dismantling dominant culture in the workplace. After a few technology challenges, things took off and the group fully engaged in my interactive teaching style. I'll be working with them throughout the remainder of the year.

My commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and diversity remains unwavering, and I look forward to creating change through my coaching and consulting services, retreats, speaking engagements and volunteer work.

Thank you for being a part of my journey. Stay tuned for more updates and insights as I continue to grow and evolve as an social entrepreneur. Cheers to new beginnings and making dreams come true!
